Varoilles, Clos Vougeot Size:6x750ml(from a leased 1 ha parcel though most of the production goes to Domaine Paul Misset; to wit only 600 to 900 bottles are typically commercialized under the Domaine des Varoilles label). Here too there is plenty of wood influence framing the wild dark berry fruit aromas that are laced with earth, game and menthol notes. The wood extends to the solidly concentrated flavors that manage to hold their focus better on the sneaky long if slightly warm

As is always the case with a classic example of Baudes this is going to require all of a decade to arrive at its apogee

The Vietti 2016 Barolo Ravera sees fruit from Novello in a site that faces the Novello castle up on the hill in the distance

slightly chalky tannins

(this has some young vines 1ers added to a blend of 90% Basses Maizières and 10% Les Vigneux)

intense and calcareous nose of ripe and dense seed fruits with crystalline saline notes of crushed rocks (and there are many rocks in this site)

with a nicely firm finish

I can't wait to see how it ages

As is usually the case with this wine there is excellent volume
