This map of Bedforshire was engraved by Emanuel Bowen for John Owen’s Britannia Depicta

and the first attempt made by an Englishman to match the achievements of the great continental publishing houses - although much of the engraving of the copper plates was performed in Amsterdam by Jodocus Hondius

including an inset of Cape Town

The map was published in The imperial atlas of modern geography

His series of geographical maps were published 1956 1969, available as either folding passenger maps or (as here) station posters. He shows Underground and British Rail routes and roads serves by buses and coaches.
