Nicolas Potel, Chambertin other_regions_italyVery generous wood presently dominates the nose, indeed to the point that I question whether there is enough mid palate sap to absorb it successfully. To be sure, this is no shrinking violet with big, rich and powerful flavors that really coat the mouth with both sap and tannins but this potentially risks drying out with time in bottle. A question mark for me. (90 93?) 2016+

grapes are left to mature for longer on the vine and the château itself has been renovated

made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (all clone 22)

Wonderfully inky depths to the colour and also the palate

And the thing is

13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc

Impenetrable reduction overwhelms the underlying fruit today

weight and power to the full-bodied and muscular flavors that display notably more minerality on the hugely long and serious but impeccably well-balanced finale

It has a disarming bouquet of honey

complex and nicely balanced finish

detailed and youthfully austere finale that is notably more complex and persistent

Offers palate-staining black raspberry

a slight tinge of fresh herbs makes way for mouthwatering succulent acidity
